PartSleuth ("we," "our," "the app") is an AI-powered auto parts price comparison and diagnostic tool. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Using PartSleuth without an account
You can use PartSleuth's core features without creating an account.
- Search queries. When you describe a part, paste a part number, or describe a vehicle problem, that text is sent to our servers and our AI provider to generate results. Anonymous searches are processed in real time and are not stored after your session.
- Images. If you upload or take a photo of a part, it is sent to our AI provider to help identify it, and (only for reverse image search) to a temporary image host that deletes the image after about 5 minutes. Barcode scanning runs on your device; that image is not uploaded.
- Technical data. Our servers see your IP address to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse. It is not used to build a profile of you.
If you create an account
Accounts are optional and unlock saved features. If you create one, we store:
- Your email address and chosen username, for sign-in and display.
- Data you choose to save: your saved vehicles ("garage"), your saved searches and chat history, and any parts you add to a watchlist.
Authentication and this data are managed through Supabase, our backend provider. Passwords are handled securely by Supabase; if you sign in with Google or Apple, we never see your password.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not require an account to use the core search and diagnostic features.
Third-party services
To provide results, we share the minimum necessary with:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): processes your queries and images to generate answers.
- Search providers (Brave Search, Google via SerpAPI, DuckDuckGo): to find parts across retailer sites.
- ImgBB: temporary hosting for reverse image search; images expire after about 5 minutes.
- Supabase: authentication and storage for account data.
- Discord: if you submit feedback or an issue report, your message (and, for issue reports, your chat transcript with images removed) is sent to our team's channel.
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.
Affiliate links
Some links to retailers include affiliate tracking, and we may earn a commission on purchases at no extra cost to you. Affiliate tracking does not collect personal information from you.
Data retention
- Anonymous searches: not stored after the session.
- Account data: kept until you delete it or delete your account.
- Reverse-image uploads: deleted by the image host after about 5 minutes.
- Feedback and issue reports: retained in our team channel so we can act on them.
Your choices
- You can use the app without an account.
- You can delete individual saved vehicles, history entries, or watchlist items in the app.
- You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the account menu. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children's privacy
PartSleuth is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
